What is a podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a highly qualified healthcare professional who provides preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of a range of problems affecting the feet, ankles and legs.

Whether in the private or public sector, podiatrists play a crucial role in promoting foot health, preventing and managing lower limb complications. Podiatrists improve people’s overall mobility to enjoy a greater quality of life.

Podiatrists can also work alongside many other health professionals, including consultants, doctors, nurses, orthotists and physiotherapists, and in a wide variety of private and public settings, from private clinics to community clinics to hospitals and sports clubs and educational institutions.
